The building of Casa Patio originally housed multiple apartments. The renovation work involved transforming it into a single dwelling spread over two levels: the ground floor and the first floor, connected by a new internal staircase, which undoubtedly becomes the undisputed protagonist of the house. To achieve this transformation, it was necessary to completely demolish the interior of the old structure, including the partition walls, the existing staircase, and a portion of the floor slab. The latter demolition made it possible to create a double-height space, which represents one of the main strengths of the project.

Another distinctive feature is undoubtedly the creation of a winter garden. This space was obtained by demolishing the old communal staircase, which originally faced a small light well. This space was expanded and cleared, transforming it into a bright and green area that gives the house a unique character.

From the internal garden, one can admire a second staircase, this time a spiral staircase made entirely of steel, which leads to the terrace.

The main challenges faced during the renovation were certainly related to the demolitions. From a structural point of view, the intervention required careful analysis and planning due to the presence of numerous pillars and load-bearing walls. These elements, crucial for the building's stability, required meticulous design to integrate the new spaces without compromising the existing structure. Managing these constraints involved specific technical solutions that allowed for maintaining safety while achieving a more functional and harmonious distribution of the spaces.

The flooring throughout the entire house was made with largeformat gray porcelain stoneware tiles, a choice that ensures visual uniformity and enhances the perception of space. This material not only offers practicality and durability but also contributes to creating a modern and minimalist aesthetic.

The staircase, an element of great architectural impact, combines a steel structure with a wood cladding that gives it both solidity and elegance. The transparent glass railing adds lightness and enhances the view of the adjacent wall, which is also clad in porcelain stoneware, coordinated with the flooring, creating a harmonious dialogue between the elements.
