Herlong Architects and Interiors by Herlong designed this 5,500 SF harbor front home with 5 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms for a family looking to relocate to the Charleston area. In context of the lot, the home is situated between a humble historic home and a larger renovated home, so it was important that the house felt in scale with their neighboring counterparts and compatible with vernacular of Sullivan’s Island architecture. Our design intent and approach was to create something truly timeless and appropriate for a historic American town in the Coastal South East. The house was designed to maximize the spectacular views and breezes from the harbour. The material mix of Venetien plaster and wide wood plank flooring make the home both a subtle and sensory space to live in. Custom ceiling designs make dramatic impressions throughout the home.
