Chiesi Intervention

Chiesi México

Chiesi México is an Italian pharmaceutical company specialized in medical solutions. On April of last year (2013) they asked Oxigeno Arquitectura to design what would be the house of their new hometown offices. Two main obstacles were faced during this project. The first being creating a proper layout in such a reduced space. With only one wall facing the exterior, creating open space was fundamental. Two lateral pavilions were used to enclose the work areas while mixing different materials and heights to create different ambiance in one same space. This projected the feeling of spaciousness and openness we were looking for. The second obstacle developed when the client informed us of a significant budget cut that we were forced to adjust to. In consequence, our design team had to replant the project from the beginning to reduce costs. An agreement was finally achieved. Wood was changed for other materials and with some adjustments the new budget was met. It was an example of how cost isn’t always proportional to design. When compared, there is little difference between the visual representations created before and the photographs of the final product. The quality of the design was never absent.
