The vision for this custom half-duplex was to create a home for a father and his three daughters that felt both timeless and functional — blending traditional detailing with the ease of modern family living. Inspired by European charm with a contemporary edge, the interiors balance youthful energy with classic design elements, layered with rich materials and thoughtful details throughout. Marble was used extensively to bring a sense of refinement and permanence to the home.

One of the key challenges was the compact footprint of the main living space. Because the kitchen occupies much of the main floor, it was important that it didn’t feel overly utilitarian or dominate the space. The design focused on creating a seamless environment for both everyday living and entertaining, allowing the kitchen to feel integrated into the overall aesthetic of the home rather than separate from it.

To achieve this, we selected timeless materials that would lend warmth, texture, and character. Herringbone oak flooring, plaster mouldings, marble surfaces, and unlacquered brass finishes were chosen to reinforce the European-inspired feel while still feeling fresh and livable. The combination of traditional materials with clean lines and tailored detailing helped create a home that feels elevated, inviting, and designed to age beautifully over time.
