In an effort to define a new function of residents’ co-working space at Dom Tvorchestva Peredelkino, the Client came up with the moniker “Literary Kitchen”, thus drawing, albeit ironically, a parallel between the premises’ history and the present day.
Previously, the premises in question had used to be a canteen.
In dealing with the post-Soviet heritage, we sought to preserve not only the artefacts that captured the spirit of the place, but the physical space inherent in the historic architectural design and plenty of natural light flooding the premises through big, typically Soviet, double frame windows.
With the help of pillar bookshelves that created a new grid of axes, we repurposed the original architectural space creating a new function.
