This home was built on a steeply sloping site overlooking the harbor and the mianus river. The challenge was to fit the design into the zoning envelope which resulted in a format similar to the hillside houses in Los Angeles: bedrooms on the lower level, kitchen and living areas on the main level and master suite on the upper level, or “half-story” permitted by zoning. The upper level closet extends over the carport to provide shelter.
