Our doll’s house comes from a design for a real house for Living Architecture at a beautiful seaside location. Our design is a weekend retreat – a place of escape that acts as a backdrop for ever changing scenarios.
Designed with children with visual impairment in mind, we expanded our use of colour and texture to bring the house to life for them. All the walls, floors and spaces have been differentiated by the use of a number of strong, contrasting colours. Also different materials and textures will help kids navigate their way around the house. Each room also has its own texture and external spaces are made of soft and hard; rough and smooth materials.
Compass House – both big and small -‐ is about escape, expanding beyond reality, and having fun.
