Corfield Court

van Heyningen and Haward Architects designed a comprehensive redevelopment plan for St John’s College in Cambridge, which reached completion in July 2009 and balances the architectural, town planning and commercial requirements of an historic and prominent site. The design creates a series of linked college gardens, made possible by the judicious removal of the few non-listed buildings. All the accommodation above ground floor in the surrounding buildings has been converted for College use, with access from the new gardens. The project also involved the creation of a new doctors' surgery and new retail units.
