At Courtyard Phoenix, a restrained palette becomes the vehicle for a richly layered domestic experience. Conceived for a residential bungalow in Vadodara, the architectural direction by Ar. Ruchir Sheth and the interiors by ID Krupal Sheth balance formal clarity with the ease of everyday family life. Soft ivory, pale timber tones, grey-veined Italian marble, black metal profiles and measured brass accents recur throughout, establishing a calm visual language while allowing each room its own character.
FOYER
The foyer establishes this sensibility on arrival. Veneer-finish panelling rises in clean vertical planes, providing a calm backdrop to a sculptural brass-finish console. Its looping metal form interrupts the discipline of the wall with an almost calligraphic gesture, while a vivid artwork brings colour and immediacy to the threshold. Rather than functioning as a transitional corridor, the foyer prepares one for the house’s balance of composure and character.
PUJA
The puja area forms the home’s emotional centre. Set within a softly arched niche, the composition layers Italian marble with a mandala and Om motif. Fluted cladding extends the vertical rhythm of the adjoining interiors, while the richly textured console below adds depth and storage. The shrine is devotional in intent, yet its detailing is fully integrated with the contemporary language of the home.
LIVING ROOM AND DINING
The living and dining areas occupy a continuous, light-filled volume conceived for both gathering and pause. A grey-veined Italian marble wall gives the living room its visual anchor, its shifting tonal depth offset by soft designer-laminate surfaces and generously upholstered furniture. The seating is arranged as a relaxed conversational setting rather than a formal display, with layered tables, rugs and full-height sheers modulating scale, acoustics and daylight. Above, brass-rimmed crystal lighting introduces a more celebratory note without disrupting the room’s quiet palette.
DINING
At the dining end, a marble-topped table sits beneath a trio of warm metallic pendants. The stone’s visual weight is balanced by rounded, textured chairs and a low designer console in a softly gilded finish. Here, the open plan works as a practical advantage: the dining setting remains connected to both the living room and kitchen, supporting the fluid movement of family life and entertaining.
KITCHEN
The kitchen is defined by clarity and use. Veneer-finish cabinetry is edged with slim black profile handles, bringing a sharp graphic line to the pale wood grain. A black-framed fluted-glass partition filters the view beyond the work zone while retaining borrowed light and a sense of connection. The peninsula doubles as a preparation surface and informal breakfast counter, making the kitchen an active extension of the social spaces rather than a room apart.
MASTER BEDROOM 01
In the primary master bedroom, the material palette turns quieter and more enveloping. A broad Italian marble headboard wall is layered with fluted detailing above and a deeply upholstered bed below. Fabric and pale veneer creates a deliberately close tonal range, allowing texture rather than contrast to hold attention. The television unit is articulated with design and detailing, while black-profile glass shutters adds definition to the storage wall. The resulting atmosphere is restful and luminous.
PARENTS' BEDROOM
The parents’ room carries the same language into a softer register. Warmly veined marble forms the feature wall behind a fabric-upholstered headboard, while fluted cladding gives the upper wall a gentle rhythm. Pale veneer, fabric-finish laminate and quietly integrated black-profile glass shutters support an environment that feels comfortable and composed, with detailing calibrated for everyday ease.
GUEST BEDROOM 01
The guest bedroom draws its character from a more expressive stone surface. Italian marble, with its blue-grey and ochre veining, becomes the principal backdrop to an upholstered bed, establishing a setting that feels both welcoming and distinctive. Veneer-finish laminate furniture and black-profile glass shutters bring practical storage into the composition without adding visual weight.
GUEST BEDROOM 02
The second guest bedroom is brighter and more pared back. Large-format Italian marble panels are paired with fluted sheet detailing and veneer-finish laminate, creating a durable, light-toned framework for the room. A black-profile glass wardrobe gives storage a clean, adaptable expression, while soft fabrics and filtered daylight keep the room from feeling overly formal.
