The Crossfit Barracão project has it’s architectural approach in the structure composed by a set of stacked containers that connect with the main sector, which is the concrete construction with prefabricated pillars and beams, characterizing the volume. The container on the facade stands out, which has a 3-meter cantilever and becomes a characterizing element of the project. The windbreak is composed of glass and aluminum frames that can be retracted, integrating the internal and external space that allows a facade with great visual permeability.

The cantilever created by the container delimits the main access that is the reception. However, there are secondary accesses along the entire length of the facade made possible by the sliding doors.

With regard to sectorization, while the area dedicated to training is located in the open plan block formed by the pre-molded concrete structure where there is a double height ceiling that provides an amplitude for the place, all the rest of the activities are concentrated in the containers volume. The changing rooms and kids' space are located on the ground floor and when climbing the stairs you have access to the pilates room, administration, nutritionist's room, physiotherapy and cafeteria.

The containers building system is a key point of the project, putting the material in appearance with the use of its plastic characteristic. In addition, the use of the material also guarantees sustainability and economy for the construction, since it is reused instead of being discarded and has a faster execution. To ensure thermal and acoustic comfort, a cardboard back wall was made inside and it was used rock wool between the partitions.

As the wet areas, they were built inside the containers using their original floor (naval plywood) as a subfloor, which to receive the ceramic coating underwent one-component rigid waterproofing cement. With this solution it wasn’t necessary to make a masonry block for the wet areas, as is common to see in container constructions.
