Our client wanted to achieve an open plan gallery style space, which would form a backdrop to their eclectic style, but without losing the historic detail and quintessential Notting Hill town house aesthetic.
What was the brief?
Open the plan up to allow a complete front to back view, whilst restoring as many internal features as possible including the ornate ceilings which had been previously removed.
What were the key challenges?
To let in as much light as possible and create open plan living spaces, whilst maintaining the historic grounding of a Notting Hill townhouse. The hall was opened up at the Lower Ground and Ground Floor levels to let light into the centre of the house from the First Floor hall windows. The central dividing walls were also removed on both the LG and G levels to allow front to back views through.
