Kida was in charge of the entire renovation of this 3-floor townhouse, located in the famous Mouzaïa district in Paris. A house for two writers, two writers.
The narrow ground floor is divided in 3 successive spaces, ending on the kitchen, which originally used to be an external patio. We tried to preserve its history by making a large sliding glass roof, thus letting the living room and kitchen be bathed in the natural light. When needed, a rolling screen can close off the kitchen and transform the living room into a dark cinema room.
We emptied the 2 top floors to make one large volume in double height between the two facades. The added steel structure of the bedroom is hanging, suspended above the two writing desks of the owners. As you go upstairs, a Sipo wood essence bookcase fills the entire height of the room. Pasolini is all around, as much on the shelves than on the cinema screen.
The conceptual line of this project was the continuity of spaces, the search for light and of small islands of peace, such as the bathroom in the basement.
