Within a cosy atmosphere, unique architecture, and excellent location, Duas Portas is a family project, which is born out of the true “portuense” (people of Porto) desire to host at home. The restoration of an old house, not shying away from bringing a taste of modernity, gives way to a building that has not forgotten the context in which it is inserted in - Porto.
With wide-open views, the house is situated directly in front of the mouth of the Douro River, a unique location, given its tranquillity and proximity to the sea, and 10 minutes from the city centre. With a total of eight rooms, all of them unique, four rooms look out toward the river and sea, while the rest overlook the garden.
The architecture allows for the connection between past and present, offering tradition with comfort. The decoration follows the same line, combining design pieces with furniture exclusively designed for the project. You’ll find attention to detail, from the colours and textures to the materials, creating harmony and simplicity as a whole.
At the end of the series of spaces that make up the house, one is delightfully surprised to find: a peaceful garden, offering a well-positioned retreat within the city, inviting guests to stop, breath, think and feel.
Envisioned, designed and conceived by three women from the same family, Duas Portas offers a tailored, caring and attentive service to its guests.
The breakfast also presents a familiar experience of homemade flavours, using high quality seasonal, fresh and unprocessed ingredients, giving preference to produce respecting nature.
With various rooms and external spaces, Duas Portas is ideal for parties, weddings, meetings and gathers, as well as other events.
Duas Portas (Two Doors) are always open and invite you to experience and live the true “Ser Português” (Portuguese way), escaping typecasts and commonplaces.
Author’s Note
This project is the reconversion and extension of an XIX century house in a restaurant and 8 room small hotel. The main façade was preserved and added with the stone masonry from the back façade demolition. This façade defined the construction coherence, introducing the demanding comfort and modernity. Different Patios establish the relation between the ground floor and the garden, in an upper level. - Luisa Penha
