Elounda Hills Reverie Complex, designed for Mirum Group by Tsikandilakis Lefteris + Architects, a multiple awarded architecture office in Heraklion, Crete, Greece, represent a new vision for luxury villa design and hospitality architecture.
The concept design came into being from our longing to preserve the landscape’s primary elements while creating an innovative project and an environment dedicated to communal wellbeing, supporting human relationships and the interplay between people and nature. The geometry of the horizontal surfaces converses with the habitat, while their limit evens out the variations between artificial and natural space. The eastern view opens towards the endless blue of the sea and Mirabello Bay, while the backyard creates a concealed sunken square enhancing privacy from unwelcome sights and providing protection from nature’s elements as the gaze travels across the interior and re-emerges onto the sea.
Local foliage emphasizes the vegetation, inviting the structures and residents to coexist with nature. The residence connects two distinct spaces, sea and mountain, interior and exterior, realizing the unification of natural and artificial volumes. This integration reflects the philosophy of our architecture office in Greece, where interior design and exterior form work together in harmony.
The constant switch of light throughout the day creates a continuously alternating experience, interwoven with our belief that architecture is in direct connection with location, time, and momentum, generating an interplay between light and shadow.
The multiplication of the unit forms a synthesis that gently follows the helix, proposing the best orientation towards the view. Each residence is morphologically autonomous, and altogether they create a sense of continuity, forming a perpetual, transparent volume directly connected with the natural landscape. This project underlines how an architect in Greece can reinterpret luxury villa architecture and hospitality design while remaining deeply rooted in the Cretan environment.
