Funtasy is a bar located in the heart of Belo Horizonte, Brazil, that proposes an entertainment experience beyond the menu options of food and drinks.
The bar is a tribute to board games and offers to the clients a big collection of games to play including the classics and the brand new launched games.
The bar’s layout was designed considering the specificities of playing board games and longer periods of time the clients spend in the bar.
There are two major rooms, one in the first floor and the other in the mezzanine, and also a V.I.P. room, all of them with upholstered tables dedicated for playing, robust and comfortable furniture.
The atmosphere of the spaces are inspired from the universe of board games, using geometries, rithms, dynamic compositions with primary forms, mixed with cozy elements typical from pubs like exposed materials, red bricks, wood and focal lights.
The first floor with double-high ceiling is the protagonist of the bar with a giant steel bookcase that contains and displays one thousand games with a slider ladder to access the higher shelves.
The bookshelf itself is also a scenographic element emulating a board game that expands to the ceiling into a light installation suspended by a grid that alternates diffuse and focal lighting.
It was also designed as a store in the entrance of the bar so clients could also buy and take their favorite board games with them. The modular furniture includes shelves and islands displays that allow different compositions.
The illumination is composed of colourful lampshades with vibrant and bold colours that create a dynamic effect in the bar’s entrance and also in the second floor game room.
