AMY BELLO

Far Niente

Born from an evocative image, this bar captures the golden light of an Italian coastal sunset, the citrus spark of an Aperol Spritz, and the easy warmth of conversation among friends. Yet beyond the postcard cliché, the ambition was to distill that atmosphere into an unexpected setting: the heart of Puebla’s historic center.

Here, there is no sea—only a panorama of rooftops and monuments, weathered façades, and the vivid colors that wrap themselves around the city.

Conceived with a versatile architectural program, the space integrates a kitchen, restrooms, and service bar; a DJ booth that curates a relaxed rhythm; a jacuzzi; and a lounge conceived for lingering—where the pleasure lies in both the sweeping views of the historic skyline and the playful reinterpretation of beach furniture on an urban terrace.

Custom-designed furniture is central to the concept. Metal structures meet striped textiles, echoing the umbrellas and loungers of the Amalfi Coast, yet reframed through a contemporary lens and enriched with a distinctly Mexican sensibility.

The bar itself—a sleek metallic volume—acts as a contemporary pavilion, almost a functional sculpture. It converses with the historic architecture around it without attempting to blend in; instead, it asserts itself as a sign that something different is unfolding here.

The material palette is intentionally austere, a deliberate counterpoint to the ornate baroque fabric of the city.

The result is an urban oasis—an improbable grafting of Italian hedonism onto the intricate, time-layered context of Puebla. A meeting point between two worlds—Mediterranean and Baroque—woven together in a language both reimagined and refreshingly unbound.
