The building for the new Filmoteca de Catalunya has been conceived as something between an industrial premises and a building under construction, pure technique almost without any finish. It will be located in the Raval district of Barcelona, which in spite of its “sventramentos” retains its dense, popular and asphyxiatingly Mediterranean port character. To respect the scale of the district, part of the programme has been designed to be underground, specifically the projections areas.
