In the historic centre of the capital, a former art gallery was converted into the new flagship store of Momade Cupcakes. The combination of a pastry shop with a coffee bar took shape as an interplay of contrasts: between the white and black terrazzo, in the subtle transition between the matte grey marmoleum floor and the black herringbone parquet, and between the openness of the transparent counter and the intimacy of the secluded sitting area. The formalist rounding of walls and furniture as well as the use of brass for the refined details tie the contrasting spaces of the design together in one whole.
The realisation was the result of an intensive collaboration between the client and several makers and designers, primarily focused on handmade details. The concept was developed by executive designers TOTAL TOTAL and Jasper Aelvoet. The architectural realisation was subsequently worked out by Stephanie Gielen of the architectural office Studio Toto.
The lighting above the counter is the result of a collaboration between Aelvoet and Vladimir Slavov of DIM Atelier, while the counter itself was realised by Concreet.
