Along Highway 29, in the heart of Napa Valley, Flora Springs Winery stands out for its unmistakable architectural profile: a sinuous structure rising among the vineyards, now transformed into a new landmark for the area. Inspired by Flora, the Roman goddess of flowers, renewal and abundance, the historic California winery begins a new chapter as a living celebration of wine, art, nature and imagination.
Guided by proprietors Gina Gallo-Boisset and Jean-Charles Boisset, Flora Springs has been reimagined as a destination where every mosaic, every vineyard and every glass of wine tells a story of renewal, beauty and wonder. More than a winery, it is an invitation to enter the world of Flora: a journey that brings together mythology, architecture, hospitality and the narrative of a unique place.
Flora Springs’ new identity was born from the encounter between the vision of renowned wine entrepreneur Jean-Charles Boisset, following his acquisition of the historic California estate, and SICIS’s savoir-faire. The project was preceded by extensive research into Flora Springs’ history and distinctive design elements, further informed by Jean-Charles Boisset’s visits to SICIS’s Paris and Italian locations. At the Maison’s Paris showroom, Boisset discovered the language of artistic mosaic and initially envisioned an intervention for the tasting rooms. From this initial intuition, an integrated project developed in collaboration with the SICIS team, in which interior and exterior surfaces, furnishings, textiles and lighting come together to create a single, cohesive narrative.
A mosaic landscape between nature, wine and art
Originally designed by architect Joel Miroglio and long recognised for its silhouette inspired by the geological strata of Napa Valley, the building has been reborn through a new artistic vision developed in dialogue with Miroglio and SICIS. Its façade becomes a luminous mosaic landscape, deeply rooted in the colours of the place: from the rich earth of the valley floor to the verdant slopes of the Mayacamas Mountains and the boundless skies above the vineyards.
At Flora Springs, more than 1,100 square metres of tesserae laid entirely by hand envelop the building inside and out, creating a continuous dialogue between the winery and the Napa Valley landscape.
The exterior façade, with approximately 630 square metres clad in 15x15 mm tesserae, interprets the surrounding vineyards through a green gradient composed of six different colour blends. Developed by SICIS, this format is ideally suited to follow the building’s curved and irregular profile: the sinuous surface engages with natural light, vines and local mountains in an ever-changing composition of meticulous precision.
Inside, the Pixel Mosaic technique meets details of artistic mosaic to shape three tasting rooms, conceived as three chapters in Flora’s journey through the winemaking seasons. The first tells the story of harvest time through a vine pergola; the second blossoms into a pixelated garden inspired by biodynamic cultivation; the third, dedicated to the Boisset couple’s twin daughters, opens onto a night sky populated by real and imaginary constellations.
The three mosaic-clad tasting rooms become immersive galleries that guide guests through a visual journey of transformation: from awakening to bloom, and from bloom to harvest. Celestial skies, flourishing gardens and a majestic Tree of Life create an environment in which time, nature, art and wine become one.
SICIS collections, including Iridium, Murano and Colibrì, shape each setting through a chromatic study of balances, contrasts and nuances, much like a wine blend. At the heart of the experience, the site-specific work at the tasting bar reinterprets Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus across a surface of approximately 18 square metres, while a mosaic of butterflies and flowers in the outdoor courtyard guides the eye towards the garden and panoramic terrace. Vetrite, SICIS’s innovative large-format glass surface, is integrated through tops, inserts and precious details that reflect the light and engage with the mosaic in a seamless material and visual continuity.
The artistic experience culminates in a monumental mosaic inspired by Botticelli’s masterpieces Primavera and The Birth of Venus, which form the iconographic foundation of Flora Springs’ renewed identity. In Primavera, the nymph Chloris, fertilised by Zephyrus, transforms into Flora, the flower-bearing goddess: a metaphor for renewal, beauty and abundance that resonates with the cycle of the vine, every vintage and the evolution of the winery itself. The central tasting bar, meanwhile, evokes the sea from which Venus rises, completing a symbolic journey from creation to bloom, from inspiration to expression.
An integrated project, from concept to completion
The strength of Flora Springs lies in the tailor-made coherence connecting every element of the space. SICIS takes on the role of design partner, coordinating the entire process from concept definition to production and final installation, orchestrating surfaces, materials and interiors within a single vision.
Born from an initially limited request, the project progressively expanded to encompass every area of the winery: a shared journey in which each new idea was translated into bespoke solutions, allowing the concepts to evolve without losing coherence.
The furnishing elements are a natural extension of the mosaic: the fabric for the Amaretto seating was created exclusively for each tasting room, with colours and patterns in dialogue with the surrounding surfaces, while tables, stools and outdoor components were developed specifically for the project. The Philippe tables, with Vetrite tops, complete a composition in which every detail accompanies guests from the panoramic terrace to the interior caves.
Technical aspects are also an integral part of the SICIS vision: materials suitable for hospitality environments, fire-retardant fabrics certified for the US market and lighting systems compliant with UL standards ensure a balance between aesthetic research, performance and long-term durability.

From a mosaic for a few tasting rooms to an entirely reimagined winery, Flora Springs demonstrates SICIS’s ability to interpret every design context through a unified language, in which materials, technology and manufacturing savoir-faire become tools to create places destined to be remembered.
With this project, SICIS confirms a vocation that spans private residences, hospitality and special projects around the world: transforming surfaces into experiences and every environment into a place impossible to ignore.
