The project is a flagship high-end apartment and residential project developed by Vanke Group in the old city of Guangzhou, China. The site is located approximately 200 meters from the banks of the Pearl River in a mature residential area of Guangzhou, surrounded by many Xiguan compounds as well as the lush banks of the Pearl River along Binjiang Road. The Haizhu District has a strong traditional residential culture and deep historical heritage.
The Fortune Way tower explores the development of super high-rise complexes in high-density areas ofanhistoric city center. It attempts to both preserve and simultaneously enhance life in the surrounding historic district while providing new, high-quality lifestyle amenities for new residents.
Fortune Way achieves this result by lifting the newly-created living spaces above the surrounding historic townhouse rooftops to respectthe privacy of the old residents while also providing new residents with expansive views across the Pearl River Delta. The former derelict propertywhere the tower now sits has transformed negative blight into a new public space for the old city. The new vitality has created a landmark project for the Old City Restoration.
The footprint of the tower is minimized in order to create a public garden space at ground level serving both new and old residents. The multi-use functions of the property are stacked vertically on this small footprint to maximize residential views of the Pearl River. Adramatic 15-meter-high entrance lobby is located across thenewly-createdpublic garden. The extreme lobby height placed beneath a double height restaurant, business center and property offices are used to lift the first occupied hotel floors above the historic townhouses surrounding the site preserving their privacy.
The 6th to 27th floors contains5-star, hotel-style apartments of approximately 50 square meters, with a mix of one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments. Ariver viewSky Club for theexclusive use of the owners is located on the 28th floor. It is equipped with an indoor infinity-edge swimming pool, fitness center, spa and yoga room. Above the Sky Club from the 30th to 52nd floors are full river-view residences, of approximately 230 square meters.
The tower base is primarily made of a combination of transparent and transluscent glass that is set within flanking black granite volumes that visually anchor the slender tower to the ground. The tower facades use a combination of various depth aluminum sunshades along with 2 colors of vision and spandrel glass to create a complex pattern that is designed to reflect the endless water tributaries that carve through the Pearl River Delta.
