Foxhole Farm Winslow

From Farm Shed to Contemporary Country House Designed by the award winning Hinton Cook Architects, this elegant building pushes the boundaries of green living combined with contemporary design.

Aylesbury Vale District Council has granted permission for a new 8500 sq ft house at Foxhole Farm Winslow.

This ‘House in the Countryside’ comprises 5 bedroom suites, open plan living, staff accommodation and indoor and outdoor swimming pools. Paragraph 55 of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), enables Architects to push the boundaries of innovative/contemporary design and use sustainable technologies which contribute to creating a building that has a low embodied energy rating during construction, plus a zero carbon building footprint during its habitable phase.

Hinton Cook has designed a building which re-uses the existing agricultural buildings and resources from the adjacent woodland and re-formed these into a new hi-tech house designed to have minimum environmental impact.

Understanding the requirements set out in paragraph 55 has enabled Hinton Cook Architects to design a dwelling which blends into the countryside, improves the immediate physical appearance (giving its locality), reduces the embodied energy during construction, is self-sufficient (in terms of generating energy and dealing with waste), and 65% of the new dwelling will be recycled from the larger steel framed building on site.

The following principles have been adopted to minimise the impact upon the environment: • Energy Conservation – renewables.  Bio-Disc Sewage treatment Plant  Solar Panels – Solar Film  Water Filtration Beds  Ground Source Heat Pumps • Water Conservation.  Rainwater Harvesting  Water Harvesting Pond  Natural Filter Beds  Water saving products • Bio-Diversity. • Avoiding pollution  Reducing pollution/carbon emissions through, Design and Construction. • Minimising use of natural off site resources. • Recycling / reclamation during construction. • Reduction in embodied energy due to the recycling of the existing building materials.
