Eric Parry Architects has completed the renewal of 11 Belgrave Road on behalf of leading investor developer Quadrum Global. Comprising just over 150,000 sq ft of Grade A workspace, the project sets a new standard for high quality offices in Victoria, London. Conservatory Apartments, Chicago’s first large-scale affordable housing project to be Passive House Certified, determined to set a new standard in affordable housing using sustainable design products in a 43-unit facility. These apartments, constructed by the locally based Henry Bros Co., are the largest Chicago-area building to meet passive house standards. Offered through Phius, a non-profit organization committed to achieving net zero carbon in the built environment, Passive House certification affirms that the building has met rigorous quality control standards for thermal, air, radiation, and moisture control. Howells completes One Centenary Way, a new landmark for Birmingham that defines the next generation of sustainable workspace, and another significant chapter in the city’s transformation into a lively, mixed-use metropolis. In 2022 we started the transformation of the Kilombo Vilas Hotel, a resort on a stunning beach of the Northeast of Brazil populated by dolphins and turtles. The strategy of the interventions was based on two actions with a sustainable approach. Located at the heart of Beijing’s Central Business District, the Z6 tower has successfully passed the ‘Net Zero Carbon Building Evaluation System,’ becoming the first high-rise office building in China to be awarded ‘Net Zero Carbon Outstanding’ certification. Based on BREEAM, the evaluation system was developed jointly by the British Research Establishment (BRE) and TÜV Rheinland Greater China (TÜV Rheinland). Amsterdam’s Zuidas has something of a dual character. Colossal offices on the south side of the A10, and terraced houses on the north side. In the middle there is a building from the 1970s, designed as an office, that is used as a school and which we are bringing back to its original function. However, it will become the ‘best-in-class office building’, because the city, neighbourhood, location and building demand this. We felt duty-bound to do this.
