Gallery Aluminum is the place where aluminum acting the leading role as well as forming its uniqueness by becoming a sculptural body to create remarkable harmony.

The requirement of having a multipurpose space for artists - including exhibition and workshop area- and an art gallery combined with a separate form as well as united was an influential factor to create this building. 

The gallery was designed to emphasize the wide-scale use of aluminum between architecture and art. In order to increase the sculptural effect of the building the angular form was designed. 

During the design process while the architect was in a search for the sophisticated simplicity without sacrificing the principles of design came up with the form which emphasizes the characteristic of aluminum accompanied by innovative attitude; how was aluminum -as a building material- could transform architectural design and function by searching new possibilities.

The design decisions of the details were created in the simplest way so that the aluminum could display itself in its purest form through the visual integrity of the structure.

Using of aluminum as an architectural material has been approached from a different perspective by developing and transforming the dimensions and application details of the extrusion profile which is currently being produced. The extreme dimensions of extrusion profile was integrated the shell of the architectural form.

The aluminum shell sat on a basic concrete floor as a stand alone form was solved by steel construction structure.

The reflectivity of aluminum was also used as main design principle. The semi reflective and sloped surfaces of facades strengthened the sculptural perception of the building and also created an illusion. The gallery is surrounded by a shallow pool of water, designed to both enhance the illusion created by the aluminum and the monumental perception of the building. 

The 1,400-square-metre art gallery is designed as an social hub with facilities for both artists and the public.

Interior design was also dominated by presence of aluminum. The dark tones of the surfaces and the smooth concrete, together with the dramatical lighting design, significantly highlight the impressively modelled space. The irregular geometry of the spaces supports the display of art.
