MORE NORTH gave Koko the opportunity to design a new gallery and exhibition space devoted to the best of both classic and contemporary art and design from Scandinavia. The gallery creates a fresh environment to reflect the simplicity and timeless beauty of Nordic design in the middle of New York City. MORE NORTH is a 3,800 square foot space that offers the sense of calm and serenity – long identified with these countries and their artistic traditions. Features include white concrete floors and floating paper-thin metal walls. 25-foot tall birch trees connect the ground floor with the lower level children’s gallery. In addition to shows by major Nordic painters and sculptors, the gallery features Scandinavian furniture and classic design objects. Koko Architecture and Design was awarded the prestigious Will Ching Interior Design award by IIDA for its work on MORE NORTH.
