The library is a two-storey building. The service functions, including the entrance, are located on ground level, whilst administrative offices, staff canteen, reading rooms etc. are situated on the first floor.

The northern and southern main entrances are connected by a walkway, which widens into an open foyer area with information services, an exhibition area etc. A reading room, laid out like a winter garden at the northern main entrance, affords a view of the surrounding park.

The lending department, which is provided with roof lights, is located centrally in the building, next to the children’s lending department and the art library. The open, double-height room with roof lights provides access to a small lecture hall.
