From its roots as a beauty blog, “Into the Gloss,” the Glossier brand has always been about community. A beauty company that promotes a minimalist aesthetic, brand devotees share stories and bond over their love of the company culture, online. The space was conceived as a place to emphasize that sense of community, now in real life, and to bring people together to have a collective and interactive experience.

The 5,500 square foot flagship space spans three levels of a SoHo loft building. With the main retail area located on the 2nd floor, the stair became the starting point for the design. It functions as a transitional space from the street into the serene and softly lit interior. For a brand that relies heavily on social media and unconventional marketing, the stair needed to be the most exciting and photographic stair in all of New York City. The space is designed to highlight key brand pillars that will be immediately identifiable and accessible to existing Glossier fans. The open plan and flexible display surfaces will allow the brand to continue to grow at an astonishing rate.
