Google Store Williamsburg

For the newest Google store, we renovated an industrial building in the heart of Williamsburg. The result is an interactive retail space and award-winning showpiece for Google’s latest products. The layout invites customers to engage, explore, and get expert help in an intimate, domestic-scaled setting. Suspended wood and steel vitrines (“Cabinets of Curiosities”) showcase Google’s wares. Interactive tables display products, direct traffic, and zone the large hall into pockets for groups to gather.

An art installation by Olalekan Jeyifous graces the wall behind the “here to help” desk. Support spaces are hidden behind the Williamsburg Google store and on the floor below. These include offices for Google’s team, a breakroom, inventory, and repair shops. In our role as executive architect, we collaborated with a complex array of stakeholders–the design architect, multiple consultants, construction managers, and client teams–to bring the project from its early stages to completion. We coordinated the LEED process with a sustainability consultant and earned the store LEED platinum certification.
