JDV designed the flagship store for Gourmet in El Gouna, Egypt.For this supermarket in the top segment, the agency was responsible for both the interior and the exterior El Gouna is located on the Red Sea and has developed into the Saint Tropez of Egypt in recent decades. The place is growing at a rapid pace and to distinguish itself as a seaside resort, El Gouna has drawn up very strict regulations for all construction projects. The American postmodernist architect Michael Graves has drawn up an image quality plan for all buildings based on ancient Egyptian and Nubian architecture.
These rules apply to all buildings and prescribe which materials, colors and ornaments may be used. The gourmet flagship store is currently still located in the desert, but on the edge of the city in a district that is rapidly being developed. The building itself combines a supermarket with a cafe. There is a terrace area next to the cafe. In the future, the terrace will border a green and water area.
