Green Mosque

The project site is located in the middle of a forest surrounded by centuries-old trees, on the western side of Bolu, 13 kilometers from the city center. Positioned atop a hill rising within the woodland, the building is designed as a structure that harmoniously integrates with its natural surroundings.

The form of the building is developed from an understanding that brings people together and connects them with the Creator. The mosque seeks to exist on that delicate line where all contrasts meet between light and shadow, earth and sky, presence and absence. This fine balance forms the essence of the structure; it is neither entirely grounded nor completely celestial.

The design approach is not to resist nature, but to integrate with it and become a part of it. The simplicity of the building stems from this philosophy. Representing humility and purity, this approach guides the worshipper on an inner spiritual journey, free from worldly grandeur. Simplicity transforms the moment of worship into a deeper and more personal experience, allowing the individual to be alone with the Creator in prayer.

The presence of the mosque within the forest is defined by a vertical concrete minaret. Amid the dense horizontal texture of the woodland, this minaret acts as a guiding element through its vertical gesture, serving as a reference point for visitors approaching the mosque. Its form conveys a quiet presence beside the organic lines of nature.

Additionally, the spacious forecourt accompanying the structure offers the opportunity to perform prayers outdoors within the forest atmosphere when weather conditions permit. This open space transforms worship into an experience intertwined with nature.
