A Unified Vision for Research and Education
The ACADEMIA – Green Tech Center represents the final piece of a strategic industrial masterplan for Immergas S.p.A. in Lentigione di Brescello. Following the successful completion of the Domus and Laboratorium buildings, this new hub completes a linear system along the provincial road dedicated to the cutting edge of research, experimentation, and training. The project not only adds new volume but also renovates the existing Research Center’s cladding, creating a continuous, monochromatic front that projects a unified corporate identity to the surrounding territory.
The Architecture of Precision
Conceived as a two-level "slab" structure, the building is designed for maximum functional flexibility. The ground floor serves as the technical core, housing advanced laboratories for hydrogen-powered systems, hybrid field tests, and climatic chambers. It even includes a dedicated "residential simulation" unit to test air-to-air products and thermoregulation in a real-world domestic context.
The first floor transitions into a space for human connection and education, featuring training rooms, offices, and a lounge. At its center lies a hanging roof garden—the "innovative heart" of the project—which provides a serene outdoor space that can be adapted for open-air exhibitions and demonstrations.
Materiality and Light
The building’s "skin" is a sophisticated metallic envelope that reflects its technological soul. By alternating solid panels with micro-perforated vertical fins, the architects have created a rhythmic facade that plays with transparency and shadow. This approach "dematerializes" the massive industrial volume, allowing the building to dialogue with the atmospheric light of the Po Valley—a landscape famously celebrated in Italian literature and cinema.
