Fenton Whelan designed a multi-unit, boutique, residential development in London’s Mayfair, blending the Art Déco style of the building with contemporary living. Entering the living space, bespoke furniture is framed by stained glass windows. Adjacent, the Bulthaup kitchen juxtaposes with the cool green breakfast room upholstery creating an iconic entertaining space with a sumptuous bar area with backlit onyx. ONE OF A KIND BAR CHAIR, RUSSEL
Now reporting to the important part of the house and the one with a bigger impact for us: the Bulthaup kitchen. In this space, we are able to be part of the project with our Russel Bar Chair. And how are we part of this Whelan Project, you ask? Because they had their mind set to one bar chair that would be one of a kind, a statement piece. Just like the interior designer said in our quick interview: “The project brief was to create a multi-unit, boutique, residential development in Mayfair. The interior design was to reprise to spectacular effect the Art Deco theme of the building and the design language found within Claridge’s Hotel opposite. It was also extremely important to find a seamless blend between of one of history’s most recognisable design periods with that of contemporary living and the Russel Bar Chair fit perfectly to that theme.
The point was to maintain the original character of the building while also inserting character, personality and uniqueness through bespoke furniture that tells a story. That’s exactly how our stunning Russel Bar Chair came into the picture with its round polished brass and timeless seductive velvet layered over a comfy foam frame. A mix between mid-century aesthetics with an amazing contemporary twist, this piece brings the nostalgia of the past with a touch of glamour and sophistication from the present. At Essential Home, all of our Mid-century furniture pieces have a movie inspiration and all of our products can be customized. We give to our clients the opportunity to choose the colors, the finishes, the materials and so on, making the pieces their own.
IMPOSSIBLE NOT TO FALL IN LOVE
With a bar chair like this, it’s impossible not fall in love with this kitchen, taken straight out of a design lover’s dream. It’s always a good option when we first think about Art Décor and Mid-century design, and we are very proud that it’s part of this amazing and iconic project that is also our own.
