Project Description for Hair & Beyond Salon in Emaar Square, Jeddah
The salon at Emaar Square, Jeddah, represents a sophisticated fusion of modern design, functionality, and luxurious comfort, shaped by a clear client brief that emphasizes both aesthetics and practicality. The design intelligently addresses the needs of the space while creating an inviting atmosphere that enhances the client experience. The salon is organized into distinct functional zones, including five hair-cutting chairs, two hair-washing stations, two pedicure areas, and four facial treatment rooms on the mezzanine level. These spaces are strategically planned to ensure a seamless flow, privacy, and comfort for clients.
Upon entering the salon, the layout immediately creates a welcoming environment, with a carefully curated selection of materials, textures, and lighting that set the tone for the entire space. The design incorporates shelves for retail product displays along the left side of the entrance, integrating both functional and aesthetic elements into the overall composition. These displays not only showcase the salon’s offerings but also create a sense of luxury and refinement, bridging the commercial and experiential aspects of the space.
The main salon area is configured to maximize space efficiency while maintaining a comfortable and intimate atmosphere. Five cutting chairs are arranged to ensure sufficient space between each station, promoting privacy and comfort for clients. Each cutting station is equipped with adjustable features to cater to various client needs, enhancing functionality. Adjacent to the cutting area, the two hair-washing stations are positioned to create a seamless transition between services. These stations are integrated into the design with sleek, modern wash basins that combine both form and function, ensuring that the client experience remains as comfortable and relaxing as possible.
Two dedicated pedicure spaces are situated away from the main hairdressing area to offer a quiet, peaceful environment for clients seeking foot care. These spaces are equipped with reclining chairs and are thoughtfully placed to ensure privacy and relaxation, further enhancing the tranquil ambiance of the salon. The careful spatial arrangement ensures that the salon remains organized, with each area providing an optimal balance between functionality and a serene client experience.
A signature design feature of the salon is the striking blue popup capsule, located centrally within the space. The capsule, which houses two cutting chairs, serves as a visual and functional centrepiece, drawing attention through its vibrant blue hue and futuristic, capsule-like form. The design of this capsule introduces a dynamic contrast to the neutral tones and clean lines of the surrounding space, creating a bold and modern focal point. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the capsule also serves a practical purpose, offering an exclusive, intimate space for clients who desire a more private, elevated service experience. The capsule’s innovative design maximizes space efficiency, allowing two clients to be served simultaneously while maintaining an engaging and unique spatial arrangement.
Materiality plays a crucial role in the design’s modern aesthetic, with stone-textured wall cladding applied strategically throughout the space. This cladding introduces natural texture and depth, complementing the sleek, contemporary furnishings and fixtures. The stone elements evoke a sense of luxury and timelessness, while maintaining a modern sensibility that aligns with the salon’s overall design vision. These materials create a tactile experience for clients and guests, enhancing the sensory aspects of the space while reinforcing its refined and sophisticated character.
The mezzanine floor hosts four facial treatment rooms, designed to provide a serene and private retreat for clients. These rooms are equipped with comfortable treatment beds, soft lighting, and a calm atmosphere, creating an environment conducive to relaxation and rejuvenation. The rooms are positioned above the main salon area, allowing clients to enjoy a peaceful experience away from the bustle of the hairdressing and pedicure zones. Despite their separation, the facial rooms are seamlessly integrated into the salon’s overall design language, maintaining continuity with the modern, luxurious aesthetic of the space.
In conclusion, the salon at Emaar Square, Jeddah, demonstrates a thoughtful approach to both architecture and interior design, with a focus on functionality, comfort, and visual impact. The careful layout, striking design features like the blue popup capsule, and the strategic use of materials work together to create a space that offers more than just beauty services—it offers an immersive, elevated experience. This design reflects a balance of contemporary sophistication and practical considerations, establishing the salon as a landmark destination within the vibrant city of Jeddah.
