The property is in a crowded residential area. Insufficient natural light and privacy were issues, and for a place of residence was somewhat claustrophobic. This made it difficult to secure natural light and privacy, resulting in a stuffy residential atmosphere. An attempt was made to create, out of such property, a residential environment surrounded by "nature" while retaining privacy.
Concept 1. Convert property into a "massive volume", which meets the requested area size. 2. Carve out the area above and below the "volume." 3. Make the carved out area (the VOID) be where "nature" and "architecture" meet. 4. A mixed space of "nature" and "architecture" is created in a crowded residential area.
Plan The VOID is where the connection to "nature" is made and functions as an inner courtyard, window and common walkway. Furthermore, the residential units form a court with each unit facing the inner courtyard, which it surrounds. Each residential unit, while having 2~3 bedrooms, is at the same time a "one-room space" which allows the incoming light and wind to come into every room. Living space where there is a sense of nature was created amid a crowded residential area.
