PROPERTY 
 The property to be built is located in the immediate vicinity of Schladming's city center. The structural environment, which is heterogeneous in terms of use and size, is characterized by typical "everyday architecture". The entire topography of this area, as an extension of the surrounding mountain landscape, has a slight south-north gradient and is limited to the north (towards the city center) by the Talbach flowing past. 

CONCEPT 
 Not the high-gloss architecture, but the reduction and clarity of the form in the context of the surroundings were the subject of the design. 

From the general conditions of the location and the specifications of the family of 6, a simple structure develops that reacts sensitively to the context and thus offers intelligent space for the users. The traditional design of the Ennstal-House is incorporated into its basic typology and reinterpreted according to the task. The required spaces and the resulting cubature are organized on two levels with an extended roof space.

The topic of "children growing up" - which in most cases goes hand in hand with moving out of the parental home - has already been taken into account in the concept in terms of "inner adaptability and densification" in two separate residential units. In this way, the different rooms and uses are given their correct position in the living area and react to the different qualities of open space on the property. Precisely placed openings create a dialogue between inside and outside.

Cuts in the cubature of the building create qualitatively differentiated covered areas that expand the living spaces to the outside. The spatially entangled building enables a wide range of useability. offers openness and protection, provides warmth and support. In this context, architecture does not see itself as "rigid and inflexible" but rather as approval for everyday life!
