Wals-Siezenheim is one of the fastest-growing municipalities in the Salzburg region. In 2022, an extension to the existing four-group kindergarten in the Siezenheim district was added to accommodate two toddler groups, including the associated ancillary and general-purpose rooms. The extension was built as a long, single-story structure.

Constructed from solid wood, the pavilion blends strikingly yet delicately into its surroundings and offers children a manageable environment with a strong connection to the outdoors and the natural beauty of the existing garden. The two group rooms, separated by a shared movement room, and the deep, weather-protected terraces create a continuous spatial flow through large sliding doors and extended window surfaces.

Views in, out, and through the building, along with varying ceiling heights that make the group rooms visible from the outside, ensure multi-directional natural lighting and a nuanced spatial experience. Special attention was given to child-appropriate scale in both construction and spatial configuration. The result is a unique, small-scale world that thoughtfully merges the site's inherent qualities with the demands of contemporary early childhood education.
