A Technology Campus for the Future in Göppingen
With hive, a forward-looking technology campus is emerging on the historic Boehringer site in Göppingen. The project unites development, application, and production within a cohesive architectural concept. As the planning architects, we are guiding the transformation of this former industrial area into a platform for real-world, technology-driven value creation.
A Place for Progress
On the former Boehringer industrial grounds in Göppingen, hive – hub for innovation, vision and execution is becoming a unique environment for technological advancement, creative development, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
The project combines architectural vision, sustainable construction, and a future-oriented program to form an AI-focused campus with impact extending far beyond the region.
New Space for Ideas
Where industrial production once defined the site, a dynamic campus for the future now takes shape. Within Hall 1 of Building 3, hive creates a flexible environment for research, development, and creative work.
The central architectural concept is a house-in-house principle:
22 fully upcycled 40-foot shipping containers form a modular spatial structure across two levels, enabling a wide range of use scenarios.
Workshops, prototyping units, laboratories, and meeting rooms can be individually configured — always with the goal of connecting technology and creativity in a spatially tangible way.
Open. Connected. Visionary.
The heart of the AI campus is a large central marketplace. An open kitchen, seating areas, and shared office spaces create places of encounter that encourage exchange, interdisciplinary work, and creative momentum.
A second, smaller plaza in the left section of the hall provides additional meeting points and retreat areas. Generous window openings offer visual connections into the containers, making innovation visible in real time and fostering transparency throughout the space.
Growing Together, Creating Impact
hive is a collaborative initiative led by the City of Göppingen, Wohnbau Göppingen, Kreissparkasse Göppingen, Mira Vision, Kleemann, Leonhard Weiss, and EVF – Energieversorgung Filstal.
Together, they are creating a place that attracts talent, strengthens regional innovation capacity, and enables cooperation between research and industry.
The founding members have already moved in. From day one, hive has been shaped by its community — actively developing the campus and filling it with new ideas.
