Located in a quiet residential alley in Hoc Mon, Ho Chi Minh City, HM House is a renovation project that transforms an outdated two-story dwelling into a bright and relaxing home infused with a Mediterranean touch. With a compact footprint of 61 m², the design aimed to maximize spatial efficiency, natural light, and ventilation while creating a living environment that feels like a small urban retreat. The original house was functional but lacked character: a flat façade with metal gates, dark interiors, and an underused front yard. The renovation preserved the basic structural framework while reimagining the spatial flow and aesthetics entirely.

Design Concept
Inspired by Mediterranean architecture, the new façade features an arched wooden gate and floral relief wall, complemented by a crisp white finish and lush greenery. The design connects indoor and outdoor spaces through large arched windows, folding glass doors, and a front garden that acts as an extension of the living area.

Spatial Organization
Ground Floor: An open-plan living room, kitchen, and outdoor dining area. A sofa bed in the living room serves as a flexible guest sleeping space.
First Floor: The master bedroom with a freestanding bathtub by the balcony, designed for privacy and relaxation.
Mezzanine: The child’s bedroom, bright and cozy, equipped with a projector for family movie nights.

Material & Atmosphere
The palette blends white walls, green and natural wood accents, and textured tiles to create a serene yet warm atmosphere. In the evening, warm ambient lighting highlights the garden and architectural details, turning the home into a cozy retreat.

Before & After
Before renovation, the house’s front yard was unused, the interiors were dim, and the master bedroom lacked design character. The transformation introduces openness, greenery, and crafted details, proving that small-scale renovations can deliver a substantial lifestyle upgrade.
