We started with a desire to inhabit the city. Not in a utilitarian way, but instead with the ambition of comfort that the city can offer.

We chose the house, the street, the valley, the program and the total risk of the process, before the project and even before the client, in a conviction that small rigorous actions will naturally amplify. The single family house program is adequate to the site and resists usury.

In a valley, close to the city centre, but far away from the noise, opened to a hybrid view of uncared rear houses and the river in the background. The city without artifice, exposed and mixed.

A small site in a residential neighbourhood, integrated in a consolidated and scaled architectural street elevation. The façade is aligned with the continuous pre-existent and already reconstructed buildings. The street is maintained in its integrity, the whole is requalified.

In the interior we explored the gradation of atmospheres: from a ground floor hidden in a walled garden, to a rooftop where the river invades the house.

We designed listening. Listening is the exercise of our profession.
