House of Trove by Gaurav Kharkar & Associates

Concept:

House of Trove by Gaurav Kharkar & Associates unfolds as a deeply layered residence where spatial clarity meets emotional resonance. Conceived by merging two adjoining apartments, the home negotiates scale and intimacy with finesse, retaining dual living zones while crafting a seamless, unified experience. The result is a dwelling that feels less constructed and more collected, where materials, memories, and moments coalesce into a narrative that evolves with its inhabitants.

At its core, the design resists rigid stylistic definitions, instead embracing a nuanced contemporary–classical fusion. Clean, open planning and fluid circulation establish a modern spatial framework, while restrained classical gestures like panelled walls, arched transitions, and subtle moldings, lend the interiors a quiet sense of permanence. This interplay is further enriched through a tactile material palette of warm wood veneers, textured marble, natural stone, and soft fabrics, each surface chosen not for visual excess but for its ability to age gracefully and invite touch.

The spatial journey begins at the foyer, envisioned as a gentle threshold between the urban exterior and the home’s composed interior world. Stone flooring, wood panelling, and curated elements introduce a design language that is measured, layered, and deeply intentional. From here, the home unfolds into distinct yet interconnected zones, each calibrated for a specific rhythm of living.

The formal living room is poised and refined, anchored by a neutral palette that allows textures and forms to take precedence. Layered lighting and carefully curated art lend depth without overwhelming the space, creating an environment equally suited to hosting and quiet contemplation. In contrast, the informal family lounge embraces a more relaxed vocabulary of softer materials, intimate seating, and integrated display niches that transform it into a lived-in canvas of personal artifacts and everyday rituals.

The dining area operates as a connective hinge, both spatially and socially. A sculptural table commands the room, while material continuity ensures it remains part of the larger narrative. Adjacent, the kitchen distills functionality into an elegant framework of clean lines, integrated storage, and neutral finishes, reinforcing the home’s overarching sense of calm.

Private spaces adopt a more introspective tone. The master bedroom becomes a sanctuary of subdued textures and soft lighting, where restraint fosters restfulness. The daughter’s bedroom introduces a gentle play of textures and transitions. Exposed wooden beams, vertical panelling, and a distinctive shift from wood flooring to blue hexagonal tiles create moments of surprise within an otherwise serene envelope. The son’s room, in contrast, is more graphic and energetic, where blue architectural accents and structured paneling establish a youthful yet composed identity.

Throughout the home, corridors and transitional spaces are treated as extensions of the narrative rather than residual zones. Panelling, artwork, and lighting orchestrate movement, ensuring continuity while allowing each space to retain its individuality. Bathrooms and wardrobes echo this philosophy, balancing utility with a refined material sensibility that aligns with the rest of the home.

What really defines House of Trove though, is its commitment to timelessness: not as an aesthetic, but as an experience. The design prioritizes longevity over trend, tactility over spectacle, and memory over ornament. It is a home that reveals itself gradually, where each layer contributes to a larger story of living, evolving, and belonging.
