These two houses are located in an ocean front lot with spectacular views to the sea, as well as to the golf course adjacent to the property and the Desert Mountains of Los Cabos. They were designed for two friends with the idea they would form a pair, so the challenge was to design each house with its own personality and privacy and at the same time being complementary in their architecture.
One, answers to family life -easy-going, informal and elegant-.
Given the intense social life of the owners, the lower floor is designed so all the main areas can function individually or integrated to provide one or many atmospheres to entertain family and guests.
The design of the house goes around a central courtyard that integrates the house main access, the main living room and dining area, which is linked to the main terrace where the swimming pool is located, all facing the ocean. The upper floor consists of a hallway surrounding the central courtyard that gives access to all the bedrooms. A totally private terrace was designed on the roof of the house to give the clients intimacy and a unique all 360° view.
The architecture of this house consists of volumes finished in plaster, as well as the use of stone to provide a fusion with the sand of the beach, always considering the use of art as an essential part of it. In the interiors predominates the use of plaster on the walls, wood floors and wood beams on ceilings.
The other house responds to an active social life in which sharing time with friends occurs naturally and spontaneously. All the areas located in the lower floor were designed in a way they have their own atmosphere and they can also function altogether. The house is designed around a semi covered double height central courtyard integrated to the main living room and the terrace facing the ocean.
Most of the facades are clawed with a stone with very thick texture, giving great presence and force to the volumes of the project. In the interiors predominates the use of wood in floors and ceilings and plastered walls. The architecture responds to the desert climate of this region so each house boasts its own courtyard and sea terrace, which means they are cross-ventilated.
