Atelier Kempe Thill has recently won the housing competition „living exceptionally“ at the site Undeloher Straße in Bremen – Neue Vahr. The competition was organized by GEWOBA Bremen – a firm specialized in social housing. The task of the competition was to offer within the usual limited budgets of social housing new innovative strategies that would allow the realisation of more attractive and affordable homes. The project proposes a compact and energy-efficient Atrium housing block with very effective access. Within the flexible building structure different sizes of apartments can be realized. Family-homes and single-lofts with a variety of private outside spaces are stacked around a central access zone consisting out of a collective hall with 9m-height and a courtyard above the hall. The project will be realized by using industrial building methods and will get a glass façade with big sliding windows.
