Two luxury warehouse locations have been developed on the site of the former Fortis head office at the Rokin, in the heart of Amsterdam. The Rokin’49 is rented by the Canadian Hudson’s Bay Company (HBC) department store, making this their Dutch headquarters.
The Rokin’49 features a 80 meters long unique roof structure cladded with rhombus shaped sandwich panels. Under the round-shaped roof on the top floor of Rokin’49 a new restaurant is located with a widespread view over the city of Amsterdam.
All cassettes are identical in shape, while the site of the glass alternates. Following the architect’s (Rijnboutt B.V.) design, the hot bent glass panels in the gridshell structure gradually decrease in size from the bottom upwards.
At the top, the sandwich panels do not contain glass at all.
The sheet metal of the cassettes consists of stainless steel on the outside and alumnium on the inside. Both finished with powder coatings of EUROLACKE.
The powder coating used in this project is the Polyester Architectural Matt Silver: AE0321-7900720 RAL 9007. Polyester Architectural is a standard durability TGIC free and lead free polyester powder coating, especially formulated for application on aluminium extrusion and sheets, steel and galvanized steel substrates. The powder coating meets the requirements of Qualicoat Class 1 and is GSB approved.
