Moving to the next chapter of the story called “Under the waves of Hybrid Nha Trang”, this time, we aim to deliver the story of the Moon upon the sea for Hybrid Sai Gon. Together with the design language vitally distinguished away from the first one with curves, we purposely take advantage of diagonal and straight lines to rise up differentiating emotions within customers.
If the Earth were to be interpreted as triangles, the Moon could be acknowledged as the same together with the image of the Moon made up of triangles. Why triangle? Because among primitive shapes such as square, circle, and triangle, triangle is the only element that is able to potentially reconstruct the rest of the shapes. By putting two triangles together, you can establish a square or a circle by putting triangles in a circular array.
The facade of Hybrid takes inspiration as if you were in space and taking a look back to the Earth. From that view point, Earth owns three main elements: earth, water, and vegetation. We bring these elements to the facade and turn them into the hallmark of Hybrid Saigon.
As the Moon is out, it reflects and dances upon the flickering ocean waves. We borrow this image to inspire the displacing movement of tables and chairs along with the floor in terms of both shapes and materials. The concrete floor is made of three shades: grey, dark grey, and black, along with stainless steel, emulating tip-toing ripples from the water surface. Objects within space are visually influenced by the currents as you put a glance at the bar stool details. The slanted legs rest as if being refracted in the water.
The reason we chose the Moon image this time is because we want to bring Hybrid out of the world. No matter where you are, you will see the Moon - the image is recognized worldwide rather than the one under the waves. (underground and less-known)
In terms of lighting, the bright area is mainly concentrated in the middle and reflected by light-catching materials as well as light angles. At Hybrid, we have "Blue moon" days, "Red moon" days for special occasions and special schemes for different events.
The “round”, “square” images are carried over from the logo to different signals while moving along together from the square table with round details to the round doorknob in the square cavity.
Staying true to the spirit of Hybrid, minimal yet contrasting drinks, our design is no less from lighting to materials, rough materials next to highly reflective metal objects such as stainless steel, mirrors… The mirror is placed at the end of the space to convey to our customers that “Wherever you are, you will always see the entire space or simply the "humans" of Hybrid at work”.
