The Ignis N12 Project corresponds to the establishment of the new headquarters for a leading company in the energy sector, with a strong presence both nationally and internationally. Since 2016, we have worked closely with this company, developing the adaptation of its various offices in Madrid and other locations across Spain.
On this occasion, the company decided to remain within its current campus, relocating to a recently refurbished building within the same complex. They now occupy three equally sized floors, totaling approximately 2,800 m². The floorplans are semicircular in shape, with a central core of vertical circulation attached to one of the façades. This configuration generates highly elongated spaces, with a significant façade presence and excellent natural light intake along their longer sides. The program needed to accommodate the requirements of around 300 employees. To that end, we proposed a concept based on dynamism and flow, reflecting both the company’s continuous growth and the nature of its activity — energy in all its forms: water, wind, light.
The spatial strategy is organized around a longitudinal axis that acts as a “stem,” from which various volumes and spaces —the “leaves”— unfold to structure the project. The more technical or programmatic areas (meeting rooms, private offices, server rooms, kitchenettes) are placed at the ends. In contrast, the central area of each floor is conceived as a fluid, versatile space, open to multiple configurations, where connectivity and representativeness are prioritized. This central core incorporates light, multifunctional capsules that house key functions for daily operations. Their design avoids unnecessary visual or conceptual weight, contributing to an atmosphere of flexibility and comfort.
The project was developed with a holistic approach to sustainability, incorporating criteria of energy efficiency, careful material selection, and custom design. Far from standardized solutions, we opted for a more crafted approach, collaborating with local carpenters to produce bespoke elements such as booths, meeting modules, technical support areas, and standout pieces like the reception desk (conceived more as a symbolic element than a traditional counter). The integration of furniture is a key part of the design. From the careful selection of functional pieces to the exclusive design of worktables for team leaders —with organic shapes that evoke droplets of water falling from leaves— every element aligns with the overall spatial concept.
Taken as a whole, Ignis N12 embodies a contemporary vision of the workplace: efficient, sustainable, fluid, and deeply human. An environment that adapts to the pace of a constantly evolving company and transforms architecture into a reflection of its identity.
