A twelve-story corporate office building located on a trapezoidal site in Barcelona’s sector 22@, the total surface of area of this project nears 10,375 sq.m. The floors above-ground are reserved for office space, while those below-ground count a 40 vehicle parking lot, and technical spaces for private use. A tall building rises from a low, compact, two-story base on the Calle Tánger. The rhomboid emerging piece appears to be a vertical extension of the street corner, although not an exact reproduction of the shape. The ten-story tower is separated from the base by a service floor and sits slightly recessed from the lower facade, lending the whole structure an ethereal quality.
Although it is a corporate building, spacious, well-lit floors were designed, with the knowledge that they may be divided into several smaller units in the future. The facades themselves are made up of stainless steel fabric panels that act as solar protection for the interior (with a 50% shading coefficient) while also contributing to the building’s perceived weightlessness. A quarter of these panels present an embossed sphere 90cm in diameter in two possible positions at the top of the panel and either facing inwards or outwards.
