What was the brief?
The couple who lived in it wanted the new home to be modern, comfortable, with fluid environments and suitable for the family's routine. They both need to work from home sometimes, so they asked for a more isolated and functional home office. In addition, with a young daughter, they wanted a playroom, an exclusive space for her to feel free to play and mess up as she wanted.

The project's starting point was to bring the cosmopolitan style to the apartment with more urban finishes and, at the same time, break the monotony and create more interesting environments with some rustic touches.

What were the key challenges?
According to the architects, the main challenge was the installation of air conditioning equipment. As the apartment did not have a ceiling height that would allow for installing a plaster ceiling (especially in the living room), it was necessary to divide it into two different cores and use two condensers to avoid many cuts in the infrastructure passage. The condensers were positioned on the room's balcony, which wouldn't have as much functionality because it was very narrow. To disguise the machines and make access difficult for the couple's daughter, the architects bet on landscaping and selected different types of plants to be part of the environment.

What materials did you choose and why?
Thus, the office opted for large-format porcelain tiles that simulate the appearance of concrete for the living room and kitchen floors, and burnt cement for the kitchen and bathroom walls. Breaks with rustic details happened with the brick wall in the living room and the warmer tone of the wood panel. The existing wooden bat was reused and restored in the intimate areas, providing more coziness to the rooms. Toilet: the architects used a wooden demolition bowl that customers bought many years ago on a trip to the country's Northeast region as a vat. The piece was treated with wax for durability, and the result was great in the composition of the gray walls and red gold metals.

For an impactful but time-tested result, the architects bet on more neutral colors in the other environments, such as white and gray, which ensured more prominence to the decoration items and lightness to the final project. The outstanding highlight of the project is the vast living room with contrasts of materials that dialogue very well: wood, brick and concrete.
