The Media Library as a key milestone in the ‘Le Nouveau 167’ Urban Development

The media library, Médiathèque Jean d'Ormesson is the first completed building within the Le Nouveau 167 urban redevelopment project in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France.

The wider project transforms the sites between Avenue Charles-de-Gaulle and Rue Pierret into a vibrant, open, mixed-use district that combines housing, cultural facilities, landscaped public spaces, and technical infrastructure. Its completion represents a significant milestone in the ongoing transformation of the entire block.

Conceived as more than a traditional library, the media library accommodates a broad programme of activities, including audiovisual, textile and art workshops, repair sessions, clothing customisation, talks on artificial intelligence and art, photography workshops, and cultural events.

To support this diversity of uses, the building is organised around an open-plan layout structured by a central core, creating flexible spaces that can adapt to evolving activities and patterns of use.

Every interior has been carefully detailed to create a warm and welcoming environment. Materials, colours, and proportions were selected to suit visitors of all ages, while timber surfaces and warm-toned furnishings give the library the atmosphere of a shared living space rather than a conventional public facility.
