Perched high above the Mediterranean, this apartment, designed by BeND Architecture, offers a striking blend of tranquility and urban chic. The design seeks to create a soothing retreat amid a bustling cityscape, where vibrant greenery softens the dense surroundings and infuses life throughout the space. Home plants play a key role, strategically placed to balance the intensity of the city view and bring a natural calmness indoors. Influenced by the urban essence of Tel Aviv and New York, where the client previously lived, the design melds modern and classic styles with an understated elegance that subtly recalls the charm of a New York hotel.

A series of contrasting elements brings a layered depth to the apartment while preserving a sense of balance. In both tones and forms, the design combines opposites thoughtfully; The joinery and steelwork throughout the apartment, for instance, contrast clean, straight lines with soft, wavy forms, creating an interplay that adds a unique, textured character to each space.
Designed with entertaining in mind, the apartment includes a small bar and bar seating at the kitchen counter, providing a relaxed space for hosting friends and family. The result is an inviting, flexible layout that combines the client’s appreciation for social gatherings with the open, balanced feel of the home.

At the heart of the apartment lies a central hallway, designed as a nod to the nearby sea. Upon entering, one is greeted by walls painted in dusty-turquoise tones, seamlessly matching the tiles of the master ensuite and evoking the calm allure of the Mediterranean. This color choice not only sets the tone but also subtly draws the eye to the sea outside, creating a fluid transition between interior and exterior.

Significant layout changes also transform the functionality and feel of the apartment. In the master bedroom, walls separating the small, dark ensuite were removed to create a spacious bathroom with sliding glass walls, offering flexibility, enhanced connectivity, and ample natural light. Additionally, two small bedrooms were combined to create a multi-functional space that serves as both a study and guest room, complete with a Murphy bed integrated into the closet. This reimagined layout emphasizes openness, flexibility, and maximized utility, bringing a distinctive character and warmth to what was once a blank canvas.
