Kohler’s India headquarters in Gurugram is conceived as a workplace that translates brand identity into a spatial narrative. Designed and built by Space Matrix, the project draws from Kohler’s 150 year legacy of design, craft, and innovation.
The spatial experience is organised as a sequence. At the entrance, a legacy wall introduces the brand’s history through curated installations and artefacts. A defined pathway articulated as a pebble trail guides movement inward and culminates in a suspended glass meeting room that anchors the arrival. This transition establishes orientation and sets the conceptual tone for the workplace.
Beyond the entry, the layout opens into a fluid, interconnected environment that departs from conventional hierarchical planning. Open work settings support collaboration and visual continuity, while access to natural light and integrated biophilic elements enhance spatial comfort.
Meeting rooms are developed as thematic environments titled Legacy, Innovation, and Craft, embedding the brand narrative into everyday use. These spaces incorporate installations referencing key moments in Kohler’s history, including a sculptural interpretation of one of its earliest products.
Materiality plays a central role. Finishes derived from clay, stone, and metal create a cohesive tactile language that reinforces the brand’s material heritage across all areas, including the Work Café and ancillary spaces.
Inclusive and sustainable strategies are integrated throughout, including neurodiverse work settings and a dedicated Waste Lab constructed from repurposed materials.
The project results in a cohesive workplace where planning, material expression, and narrative intent are aligned, creating an environment that communicates brand identity through spatial experience.
