Lee Tung Avenue

Ronald Lu and Partners is the Lead Consultant and Architect of the Lee Tung Avenue, a re-development project located in a strategic urban area in Wanchai, Hong Kong. The public open space and a shopping arcade with the “boulevard-verandah” design concept enhance and collaborate the missing link for urban/social/cultural and heritage connections and complete the pedestrian linkage from Kennedy Road to Wanchai waterfront. An underground walkway directly linked to the Wanchai MTR station was also proposed.

Together with its close proximity to various public transport systems, the re-development helps to promote safety and mobility of pedestrian traffic and ecological mode of transport to minimise energy consumption and pollution generation.

Lee Tung Avenue is a new and unique retail concept in Hong Kong encompassed within a 200m-long European-style pedestrian walkway. Capturing the rich heritage of Wanchai that parallels the evolution of Hong Kong, the design of Lee Tung Avenue is inspired by the streetscape of old Wanchai in the 1950s. This not only rejuvenates Lee Tung Street but also the district of Wanchai as a whole. It further presents an exceptional place for dining, shopping, leisure, and cultural enrichment where east meets west, new meets old, making it a pleasant and interesting exploration.

Featuring a mix of posh local and international brands, alfresco cafes, quaint restaurants as well as shops that used to operate from the district, Lee Tung Avenue brings a new face to the traditional streets and gives people a new reason to explore the intriguing neighbourhood.

Lee Tung Avenue has close proximity to various public transport systems, the project helps promoting safety and mobility of pedestrian traffic and ecological mode of transport to minimise energy consumption and reduce pollution.

Environmental consideration has been taken into account in site planning, building design, and green features. Air ventilation assessment, self-initiated OTTV analysis, energy and daylight simulations, carbon footprint audit, and passive building design approach have been adopted in the design and development stages to optimise natural lighting and ventilation, local micro-climate, and building-energy performance.  Extensive greenery with ecological and species diversity is deployed to enrich local biological contents and mitigate the urban heat island effect. Indoor environment quality is also enhanced through careful material selections, building geometry, lighting, ventilation and acoustic design to minimise the risk of building-related health issues.

Tremendous effort has been placed to incorporate the latest innovative and efficient green installations, such as water-flow hydraulic mini-turbines, water recycling systems, high-efficiency solar PV panels, energy-efficient appliances and fixtures, and food waste recycling machine to harvest free renewable energy to promote sustainability and 3Rs concept - Reduce, Reuse & Recycle.

Lee Tung Avenue has successfully added vibrancy and charisma to the district with its ample open spaces, extensive greenery, shopping and dining options and exquisite residences, creating a pleasant, unique experience for residents and users alike.
